So every Monday and Friday are kids' choice around here. Tonight Natalia wanted Sloppy Joes, and wouldn't you know it...I was out of ground beef. So we agreed on Turkey Joes instead. Ground turkey isn't my choice to substitute for beef, but when it is all you have...embrace it.

I have found that by making the item about the turkey, rather than seeing it as a sub, the food will taste better. Like you set out to make it that way!
Turkey Joes:
 |
Adding your veggies |
1.5 lb ground turkey
1 tbsp oil (optional) *I used grapeseed*
1/2 bell pepper (red preferably)
1/4 onion
garlic salt
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 cups tomato sauce
3 tbsp chili powder
 |
Delish |
Heat your oil over medium high heat and add your ground turkey. Add some garlic salt to the turkey as it browns (I usually eyeball it to about 1 tbsp). While you finish browning your meat dice your onion and bell pepper. Once the meat is browned add the brown sugar and stir in. Simmer two to three minutes then add your onions and peppers. Sweat the vegetables for a few moments then add the tomato sauce and chili powder. Simmer for about 5 minutes. Be sure the temperature reaches 160 degree as this is a poultry dish.
Serve over toasted potato buns and enjoy!
Fries:

Wash and slice three potatoes (more than enough for a family of four) length wise. Slice each half thinner then flip and slice again top make sticks.
Toss some season all over them and add to a preheated deep fryer.
Ta da! Amazing fries your whole family will love...for mere pennies on the dollar.
